A New Kind of Halloween

In those years before Sophie, Halloween meant grown-up parties with lots of naughty snacks and drinks, hilarious costumes, and carousing ’til the wee hours.

Now, Halloween means child-appropriate snacks, cute pint-sized costumes, and lots of photo ops. As if to cement the dramatic change from pre-baby to post-baby Halloweens, our annual American Women’s Club adults-only Halloween party was cancelled this year at the last minute. Not necessarily a bad thing, since it would have required me to dress up as one of the Spice Girls (don’t ask…..!)

While we do have a nice travel-related story in the works for you, I first will share our sweet photos of Halloween-At-Jennifer’s-Decidedly-Untravelly-Friday-Baby-Group…

This mask scared the heck out of Sophie (she would start screaming if I put it on) so my costume was effectively “a tired mom who wears black”.

The costume-of-the-day award goes to baby Justus:

Milla (our neighbor to the west) is a cute witch:

While the “other” Sophie practices her yoga and meditation techniques:

Baby Louisa, Fay, & Lisa show that witches, princesses, and hippies really can get along:

Our easterly neighbor Julia really likes Halloween! (she’s 3 months old now)
