This Is My Life Now

2007 Travel - September 13, 2007 8:53 am

My friends say “Jennifer, why don’t you post, where have you been?” That is, my childless friends say that ;-) . The others remember well how your life sort of races by in a blur when you have a baby on hand - you just catch up on sleep, nurse, grocery shop, work, eat, play with the baby, and change diapers. But good stuff HAS been happening… Sophie is an absolute delight and is growing fast; our new house is ALMOST DONE; my tax season has been blazing on; our wedding is approaching fast! We hired a wonderful German woman named Brigitte who takes Sophie out for long walks, rain or shine, and makes us fabulous meals twice weekly. My in-laws-to-be are a divine gift from above (Soenke’s dad is painting the inside of our house, Soenke’s mom comes to help with Sophie all the time). My German is improving, the sun is shining (occasionally), my folks are coming for Christmas, the leaves are changing, world peace is almost here, and … what else could a girl hope for? It’s the best time of my life, and shockingly it’s one that doesn’t involve passport stamps. But NEVER FEAR, we are planning big travel for 2008, and Soenke promised that he would get me to Easter Island so that he never had to hear those two words again…

While I have much to report, for the moment I will leave my gentle readers with a few gratuitous Sophie photos/videos (have I lost my traveling-readership altogether at this point???). I know, I promised myself that I would NEVER be that annoying person that inundates everyone around them with pictures of their kids, but I can’t help myself.

Sophie babes up for Soenke’s brother’s wedding:

I’ll never win any prices for filmmaking, but i did have a baby in one hand and a camera in the other, and no one got hurt!

Scond and thrds on the above comments .. Sophie is simply divine! As for being MIA, didn’t I see you two days ago?!(must have been in MY dilerious dreams … who has a moment to dream). Keep up with what you can and learn not to kick yourself too hard for those things that don’t make priority or even get done.

Gotta run, I finally have my princess asleep in her bed and so I must attempt to sleep while Jim talks to Maroc.

I couldn’t resist pursuing the title: This Is My Life Now- Lucky I clicked it, otherwise I wouldn’t have stumbled upon the Most Adorable Video of Sophie Ever Recorded! I can only pity that poor pacifier: living a life of repeated rejection, day in and day out. In the possible words of Sophie, ”They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.”
