Family Sunday in the Stadtpark
Thanks to my brilliant technology skills (if you can call videoing with a digital camera brilliant), we now have our first full-length feature film of Sophie in action. Mostly it is of her sleeping, but the background settings are nice. We are still trying to figure out how to get video from our really fancy new video camera onto the computer. In the meantime, you get this.
To summarize the plot: the Crawford-Einfeldt trio sets off on a Family Sunday. We head to Subway for lunch, then to the gelateria for real Italian gelato served up by real Italians. Next stop, the Stadtpark (city park) which was filled with probably about 70% of Hamburg’s residents, being a rare beautiful sunny day here in Hammytown. The park itself is absolutely huge; what you see in the video is a tiny fraction. If she knew how to work her hands yet, Sophie would have given our outing a 2-thumbs up…
NOTE TO OBSERVANT VIEWERS: Without switching on my brain, I put the date of our Family Sunday in the opening of this video. I took the date from the filename of the video, which said 7-8-07. Living in Europe 2 1/2 years now, my brain of course read that as August 7 (European date conventions list the day first, then month). Obviously it is NOT August 7, it is July 8. Oops. I am too lazy to change it quite yet.

About 95 percent of my baby videos involve a litany of cutsie-isms like your narration…there is just no other way to describe a day in the park when the big action is “baby wakes”. You get to be rather good a narrating not much, as a mother and a cameraman. Awfully lucky of you to catch the puking scene (my favorite) and the highlight was by far the demanding high speed forest sequence where Sophie was flying by in that speeder with the Ewoks. Or was that Soenke?
Nice footage…glad you got some sun today! Soph was missing her Jayne Mansfield shades.

CUTIE PIE! wicked cool zoom in barf scene! and mmmm … ice cream. btw — um, where did the forest come from? does that happen often in germany?

I LOVED this video…and the written preamble. Keep up the good work. You may find a bit of a drop-off in your international following, but that’s a small price to pay to keep Sophie’s adoring fan club satisfied.
