Sophie Takes Visitors

2007 Travel - June 9, 2007 4:28 pm

Now I know that most of you would like to write about my harrowing and at times (rare times) hilarious experiences in a German hospital, but with time at a premium thanks to the needs of the Princess, we’ll have to wait on that.

In the meantime, here is a pictoral parade of Sophie’s ladies and gentlemen in waiting. Unfortunately we have a few key visitors who managed to escape my camera (e.g. Knut, Kirstan), but all-in-all we have good representation:

————————————-

Sally, one of our first post-delivery visitors, greets the Princess:

Her 1-year old son Amin brought a sweet bouquet for Sophie:

Klaudia and Mehmet are naturals! HMMMM!!!

Grandpa Hauke & Grandma Antje shower the little pumpkin with adoration:

Uncle Ole likes his new role!

A very special photo… Tim was with us at the beginning….at French language school where we first met… so it is truly touching to see him holding the fruits of our relationship!

Soenke and his grandma… she is a proud Great Grandmother now!

Sophie has a challenging moment:

Mommy looked a lot better in black & white while in the hospital…

FINALLY we leave the hospital as a family (with Sally’s assistance!)

Here comes Grandma Joy! All the way from California to see her first granddaughter:

Grandpa Chuck has the magic-baby-quiet touch (she always falls asleep in his arms, while he whistles old songs from the 30s):

Here is my new life… I’m learning to type with one hand:

    welcome to the world, Sophie.

Motherhood Uncensored reposted a 2006 post about taking a shower, and I clicked on your comment as you were talking about being mad for contemplating conception - so I clicked over to see what has happened since.

Ha ha - congratulations. Despite the shower limitations, the joys you will receive far, far outweigh the downsides (most days).

    Jeni,
What great photos! They say that a picture is worth a thousand words - probably easier to just post the pictures than typing those thousand words with one hand! You look great - I hope your recovering nicely from the c-section.

Oh my gosh, that photo of her “in repose” - lovely!

No way Jeanie, i totally remember that Motherhood Uncensored blog & my comment about being terrified to have a baby! How hilarious that you found that and found ME and the obvious fact that I got over my fear eventually! ;-)

Jennifer, thanks for sharing these precious moments! You’re family is so beautiful and so in love (esp the grandparents). Not to mention that Princess Sophie looks so gorgeous and seems to be a calm and attentive soul. I hope you’re able to take care of yourself and that you’re healing nicely. There’s nothing more that I can add, but wow, you are truly blessed (and Soenke too!).

All our Love, Kim and Jim

  6. Grandma Says:

Grandpa and I will definitely need a very large print of The Princess in Repose!!!
