We Did It !!!
Happily reporting here from mission control headquarters that baby Sophie is doing GREAT and we are tucked away at home with my folks visiting, still recovering from the delivery excitement…
Long story short: we have the sweetest most beautiful little girl ever !!! And she certainly made a high-maintenance entrance. Unfortunately due to some ill-placed holes in my spinal column during the course of getting the epidural, i have been flat on my back ever since delivery waiting for the spine to heal and me to be able to stand up without fainting from crushing headaches. Not the most auspicious start to motherhood, but Sophie and I have lots of time to bond and plan our future travels.
I can confirm that typing from the flat position is not so easy, so will leave you with a few happy family photos. There’s really nothing better in the world than being able to say “we are a family now!”
And a HEARTFELT THANK YOU to all of you who wrote, visited, called, prayed and more! Especially Sally without whom this entire production would have never been possible. More on all that when things settle down…
===============================
Just after the c-section…Soenke looks hot in his scrubs! And mommy is just SO GLAD it’s finally over…

Thank you Knut for doing Sophie’s first photo shoot!!

Those are beautiful pictures that you will cherish the rest of your life. I am so touched. But let me just ponder this for a second:
“without whom this entire production would have never been possible.”
As far as I know, it only takes two to Tango. :+)
It has been so fun watching you and your growing belly throughout your pregnancy and now I get to watch you guys and Sophie experience life.
I have an idea to help pass time while in the horizontal position - you can brainstorm for your new book - Traveling with Children.

She is gorgeous! And you two don’t look so bad yourselves. So, glad you are home and I hope you’re back on your feet and feeling great soon. Look forward to more pictures too!

Jeni,
You and Soenke look absolutely great holding little Sophie. I’m sorry to hear that you’re getting a bit of a rough start, but I am sure you’ll be up and running 100% in no time at all. Her first little pictures are just great. I am so jealous!
